On Monday evening the fourth and final match day of our Yr 5-6 Football Development League took place at the Sportspark.

The league has seen 15 mixed teams teams from 9 different SSP member schools battling it out. The aim of the league was to give more pupils (boys and girls) the opportunity to represent their school in competitive matches against other local schools.
The league benefitted from being held on the floodlit all weather pitches at the Sportspark which has meant that matches haven’t been significantly affected by the weather. The pitches have also provided a reliable playing surface for the pupils to develop their skills on.

The league was split into three divisions with schools able to enter teams into the division that matched the ability/experience of each team. Teams within each league then played against each other in a round robin format over the four match days with a few extra friendly matches added in.
Jon Osborne, commented;

“Over the last 18 months they have missed out on so many opportunities. It has been great to see pupils being able to take part in events like this alongside other young people from other schools. Congratulations to all of the pupils that took part.”
If you son/daughter took part in the league and would
be interested in joining a club outside of school so they can continue to participate then visit our Clubs Page.
