"The Students were BUZZING on their return to school"
On Tuesday 30th January 9 schools took part in our first Panathlon Swimming Festival event at the UEA swimming pool. The day was primarily aimed at children from years 5 &6 with a special educational need or who would benefit from the event.
We ran two sessions. The children were split into their schools and each group moved around the water based activities. From raft racing, water polo, the popcorn challenge, noodle races, treasure hunts to name a few, the children were challenged to try their best, work as a team all whilst learning swimming techniques and new skills all whilst playing fun games.
A massive thank you to the schools that signed up for the event. The feedback received has shown it was an overwhelming success and all the children were buzzing when they got back to school and couldn’t wait to tell their friends what they had got up to and to show off their participation medals and certificates.
The schools that attended were:
Charles Darwin Primary
Lakenham Primary
Bluebell Primary
Eaton Primary
Little Melton Primary
Clare School
Parkside School
West Earlham Junior
Tuckswood Academy
With most of the events we run, we involve local high schools to bring their sport leaders along to gain valuable experience, running the activities. It can be a daunting experience at first to have lots of younger children listening to your every word eager to get started but Hethersett Academy were as professional as ever and led the activities confidently and full of fun to make sure every child have a fantastic experience – Thank you
Massive thank you to Panathlon Challenge for running the event and helping us provide these opportunities for our schools. Please take a look over at Panathlon Challenge to find out more about what they do! We look forward to our next event with Panathlon with Multi Sports in June.
