This week, students at City Academy Norwich were able to receive free bike checks and repairs thanks to the school organising two Dr Bike events.
The aim of the Dr Bike events was to ensure that students bikes are working effectively and are safe to be ridden.
Jon Osborne, Head of Community Sport for City Academy commented;
“I am really pleased at how well the Dr Bike events went. Over the two days our mechanic checked and repaired 43 bikes. I hope that this will help our students cycle riding their bikes more and ensure that they are safe when doing so. ”
The Dr Bike events were part of the Academy’s ‘Summer of Cycling’ campaign. During the summer term, students will also have the opportunity to take part in Bikeability cycle training to teach them how to ride safely on the road, learn how to fix their own bike on a cycle maintenance course and take part in the national Big Pedal campaign. The Academy are also installing a bike repair station in their students so students and staff can maintain their own bikes.
