Event Description

Schools are invited to enter up to 4 teams of between 4 and 30 pupils to take part in the competition.

Each team should prepare a dance of any dance style ( age appropriate) . Pupils must either choreograph the dance themselves or be teacher led. Teams will be split if possible into small and large group categories and also whether self choreographed or teacher led. 

Routines should be between 2.5 and 4 minutes in duration.

Dances should be able to be performed within a space approximately 10m x 7m.

Teams are required to submit a short paragraph (max 150 words) detailing the inspiration and concept of the teams routine which will be used by the judges to score the categories.

Each routine will be judged by a panel of external judges who will use the following four categories totaling 100 points.

  1. Concept and soundtrack
  2. Choreography and Floor Use
  3. Performance skills
  4. Overall impact

All rules will will be shared with you, once your booking is confirmed.

What is the objective of the event? 

The Event Theme for this event is Compete.

The Intent of the event is to “develop confidence and competence”

Costumes

Teams should provide their own costumes which are appropriate for the dance. There will be limited changing facilities at the venue so pupils are advised to change if appropriate before arriving.

Spectators

Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate spectators at this event.

Which schools is the event open to? 

All high schools in the Norwich SSP area .

Will transport be provided? 

Transport is not provided.

Photo and video consent 

We would like to use photos and videos of the event to celebrate the pupils and schools who have taken part via a variety of media including the internet, social media, newspapers and newsletters.  

It is the responsibility of the participating school to ensure that they have asked parents/guardian for permission for photos and videos of all participants to be taken by City Academy Norwich (NSSP) staff or an official event photographer.
