Event Description

This festival is delivered as part of our role with the Barclays Girls’ Football  in Schools project, a national programme that aims to increase access to football for girls and double participation.

The event is open to all primary schools. Each school is invited to enter:

  • 1 squad of 8 girls from Years 3 and/or 4

  • 1 squad of 8 girls from Years 5 and/or 6

Teams will compete in competitive matches within their age groups (Years 3/4 and Years 5/6). The event will take place outdoors on the all-weather football pitches at GOALS Norwich.

As part of the Norfolk School Games, the top 2 teams from each age group will qualify to represent the SSP at the Norfolk School Games Finals on Friday 6th March at GOALS Norwich.

Event Objective

The theme for this event is ‘Compete’, designed for pupils who enjoy performing, challenging themselves, and testing their skills against others.

Event Intent

To develop confidence and competence through competitive football.

Clothing & Footwear

As matches will be held outdoors on all-weather pitches, pupils should wear:

Warm and waterproof outdoor PE kit

Trainers or football boots with moulded studs (no full studs or blades)

Shin pads (compulsory)

Goal keepers must wear gloves

💧 Pupils should also bring a water bottle.

Spectators

Unfortunately, parents and carers cannot spectate at this event.

Transport

Free transport will be provided for SSP member schools if required.

When booking, please indicate:

Whether you need transport.

The total number of seats required (pupils + adults).

Final transport arrangements will be confirmed after the booking deadline once travel has been organised.

Photo & Video Consent

We would like to use photos and videos of the event to celebrate the pupils and schools

Photos and videos may be taken by City Academy Norwich (NSSP) staff or an official photographer for use in media (internet, social media, newspapers, newsletters).

It is each school’s responsibility to ensure parental/guardian consent has been obtained for all participants. If no consent is given, pupils will be required to wear a yellow snapband.
