Norwich SSP is partnered with the Youth Sport Trust to ensure that young people have access and benefit from a wide range of PE , school sport and physical activity opportunities. The Youth Sport Trust is a national charity which leads the work on ensuring funding remains within the education system to increase the quality and range of opportunities for schools. The current high levels of funding are largely due to the influence of the Youth Sport Trust.
The Youth Sport Trust has a schools membership offer which has a number of benefits. There are over 4000 schools nationally who are members and the aspiration is to grow this to over 6000 this year so the Chief Executive ( Ali Oliver) can speak with real authority when influencing the new cross-departmental school sport action plan.
Membership can be as little as £50 per school and as a SSP we are keen to encourage schools in our area to join. We would coordinate this cluster membership locally.
Please see the details below which highlight two levels of membership which are available to schools:
Subscription – £50 per school
Communications: (landscape and policy updates, helping you to stay up to date with topical issues as they arise to inform and transform your practice):
- Monthly e-newsletter – provides topical updates from key staff at the YST, showcases best practice in member schools and reminds members of member benefits.
- Termly Inspire magazine – includes articles from industry experts, YST staff and member schools on innovation and impact of PE, physical activity and school sport innovations. It aims to offer a comprehensive strategic overview of PE, physical activity and school sport in an ever-changing landscape. It is designed to provide inspiration and ideas for schools own practice.
- Resources Library – Online articles, brochures and case studies to support effective practice.
Subscription Plus – £150 per school
As above PLUS
- YST Quality Mark – The quality mark allows a school to benchmark their PE, school sport and physical activity provision against a series of questions subdivided into five sections through an online platform, (same for primary and secondary). The sections include:
- Overall vision, leadership and management
- High quality physical education
- High quality school sport
- High quality physical activity
- Using high quality PE, PA and SS to drive whole school improvement
- Identify strengths with their provision and areas for further development.
