We are delighted to announce that Sustrans Big Pedal is back with a new name!
Since Sustrans Big Pedal started in 2011 it has grown to be much more than a cycling competition. During the two week challenge schools compete to record the greatest number of pupils walking, using a wheelchair, scooting and cycling to school, whilst learning about the benefits of active travel along the way.
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel
The new name acknowledges the multi-modal nature of the competition and reflects the inclusive nature of the challenge.
Sustrans Big Walk and Wheel will run for 10 days from Monday 21 March and is open to all primary and secondary schools in the UK, including SEN schools. Children will be able to take part whether they are travelling to school or learning remotely. As well as active journeys to school, 30 minutes of physical activity and exercise taken from home will count as one journey in the challenge this year.
