SSP Yr 3-6 Inclusive Sports Festival engages over 50 pupils in different sports.

Today, an SSP Year 3-6 Inclusive Sports Festival was held at UEA Sportspark. The event aims to give pupils with a Special Educational Need or Disability  the opportunity to represent their school at a sports event and introduce them to new sports.

Schools were invited to bring up to ten pupils and the event was attended by the following seven schools;

  • Bignold Primary School
  • Bluebell Primary School
  • The Clare School
  • Cringleford Primary School
  • St Francis of Assisi Primary School
  • Valley Primary Academy
  • West Earlham Junior School

Pupils rotated across four different activities. The pupils had the opportunity to learn and participate in Table Tennis, New Age Kurling, Cricket and Tennis. Each activity was led by a sports coach and they were supported by sports students from Easton and Otley College.

Mr Hydon, from The Clare School said;

“It was a nice mix of activities for our pupils to experience. Everybody enjoyed it.  It was a very inclusive event that all could engage in and take something from.”

At the end of the event, some pupils were awarded with a Sportsmanship Award. These pupils were nominated by their teachers and school staff for display sportsman-like qualities across the day, such as having a positive attitude and showing respect. Each of the nominated pupils was presented with a certificate.
