School Games Yr3-4 and Yr5-6 QuadKids Competitions see over 250 pupils run, jump and throw.

On Friday 24th May, over 250 pupils from Year 3-6 took part in the School Games Quadkids Athletics events at Sportspark UEA. The event was split into a morning and afternoon session, where in the morning the Yr3-4 teams competed and in the afternoon Yr5-6 teams competed. The event forms part of the Norfolk School Games programme which aims to get pupils involved in competitive sport.

The Yr3-4 event was attended by 15 teams and the Yr5-6 event was attended by 11 teams. The schools that participated were;

  • Bignold Primary School (Yr3-4 and Yr5-6)
  • Bluebell Primary School (Yr3-4 and Yr5-6)
  • Eaton Primary School (Year3-4 and Yr5-6)
  • Free School Norwich (Yr3-4)
  • Lakenham Primary School (Yr 3-4 and Yr5-6)
  • Mulbarton Primary School (Yr 3-4 and Yr5-6)
  • St Francis of Assisi Primary School (Yr 3-4 and Yr5-6)

Teams consisted of five boys and five girls and followed the England Athletics Quadkids Primary Competition format. All of the pupils involved took part in all four of the events. For the Yr3-4 pupils, the events were 50m sprint, 400m, long jump and vortex howler throw. For the Yr5-6 pupils, the events were 75m sprint, 600m, long jump and vortex howler throw.

Based on their time or distance, the pupils were awarded points which are then accumulated with the other members of their teams. After all the points were calculated, the results were;

4th– Bignold Primary A

5th– Eaton Primary B

6th– Mulbarton Primary C

7th– St Francis of Assisi Primary B

8th– Mulbarton Primary B

9th– Lakenham Primary A

10th– Mulbarton Primary A

11th– Bignold Primary B

12th– Free School A

13th– Eaton Primary A

14th– Lakenham Primary B

15th– Free School B

 

Year 5-6 Competition

1st– St Francis of Assisi Primary A

2nd– Bignold Primary A

3rd– St Francis of Assisi Primary B

4th– Bluebell Primary

5th– Eaton Primary B

6th– Mulbarton Primary B

7th– Bignold Primary B

8th– Mulbarton Primary A

9th– Mulbarton Primary D

10th– Lakenham Primary A

11th– Eaton Primary A

The top two teams for each event are now invited to represent the SSP at the Norfolk School Games Finals on Monday 17th June at UEA Sportspark. Congratulations to St Francis of Assisi Primary A and Bluebell Primary who are invited to the Yr3-4 Competition, and to St Francis of Assisi Primary B and Bignold Primary A who are invited to the Yr5-6 Competition.

Thank you to the group of leaders from City College Norwich for all their help with the event. The students officiated each of the events across the day.
