Pupils show off their skills at Tennis Festival

On Friday 2nd July we gave pupils in Years 1-2 from  local schools the opportunity to take part in our Tennis Skills Festival hosted in Eaton Park in partnership with the National Tennis Association.

The festival was a Develop themed event and aimed to provide opportunities for pupils who enjoy friendly competition but don’t want to solely focus on winning and losing, instead they focus on supporting a pupils wider development. The Intent of the festival was to develop children’s fundamental skills required to play tennis.

Pupils from the following schools took part;

Pupils took part in a variety of fun skill based activities delivered by Tennis Leaders from City Academy Norwich who had received training as part of the Beyond the Baseline project.

Jon Osborne commented;

“It was brilliant to see the young pupils outdoors enjoying taking part in some fun tennis activities. They gave it their all and really developed their skills during the event.”

“I would like to congratulate the Tennis Leaders from City Academy Norwich  for being such amazing role models throughout the day and really engaging the young pupils.”

LTA Youth Schools Programme

The activities were part of the LTA Youth Schools programme which provides a variety of great FREE resources for schools, including; PE Lesson Plans, Personal Development resources, teacher training opportunities and cross curricular lessons. All you need to do is sign up to the LTA Youth Schools website to access the resources.
