Pupils Make A Splash At The School Games Yr4-6 Swimming Gala

Last Friday afternoon, the School Games Yr4-6 Swimming Gala was held at the UEA Sportspark. The event forms part of the School Games which provides pupils the opportunity to represent their school in competitive sport.

The event was attended by 11 schools. The schools that attended were;

  • Avenue Junior School
  • Bluebell Primary School
  • Charles Darwin Primary School
  • Cringleford Primary School
  • Eaton Primary School
  • Free School Norwich
  • Hethersett Primary School
  • Little Melton Primary School
  • Mulbarton Primary School
  • Notre Dame Prep School
  • St Francis of Assisi Primary School

Pupils could compete in a maximum of two individual events and a relay each. For each year group, there were boys and girls races split across two heats. The gala consisted of the following events;

  • 25m Front Crawl
  • 25m Backstroke
  • 25m Breaststroke
  • 25m Butterfly (Year 5&6 Only)
  • 4x25m Mixed Freestyle Relay (2 Boys & 2 Girls)

There was a great atmosphere across the whole afternoon with all schools showing great sportsmanship supporting all of the swimmers. It was great to see so many pupils involved and for some, this was their first opportunity to compete in a swimming gala.

Thank you to the Sports Students from City College Norwich who helped at the event by acting as officials across all of the events.
