Over 280 pupils practice their skills at the SSP Multi Skills Festival

Today, a Year Two Multi Skills Festival was held at Easton and Otley College Tennis Centre. Over 280 pupils attended the event across two sessions.

The morning session was attended by pupils from;

  • Bluebell Primary School
  • Charles Darwin Primary School
  • Little Melton Primary School
  • Mulbarton Primary School

The afternoon session was attended by pupils from;

  • Clare School
  • Free School Norwich
  • Lakenham Primary School
  • West Earlham Infant School

The purpose of the festival is to encourage the pupils to have fun whilst getting active and to inspire them to take up opportunities that allow them to get active in the future. The festival consisted of eight different activities and pupils rotated around each of them. The activities were targeted towards a sport specific skill. These included dribbling in football, passing and catching, putting in tri-golf and throwing in athletics. The pupils can then practice, or learn these new skills, and apply them into sports and activities in the future.

Lexi, a pupil from West Earlham Infant School, said;

“It’s good because I get to do loads of different challenges”.

At the end of each session, some pupils received a Sportsmanship Award. These were nominated by the staff from each schools attending, and were given to pupils who had demonstrated sportsmanship qualities across the event, such as being respectful or having positive attitude. Each pupil nominated was provided with a certificate to take home.

Thank you to the students from Easton and Otley College who did a great job throughout the day leading each of the activities whilst supporting and encouraging all of the pupils.
