Over 250 pupils develop their skills at the SSP Year One Multi-Skills Festival

Today, the second day of SSP Multi-Skills Festivals was held at Easton and Otley College with over 250 pupils attending.

The morning session was attended by;

  • Chapel Break Infant School
  • Eaton Primary School
  • Mulbarton Primary School

The afternoon session was attended by;

  • Bluebell Primary School
  • Henderson Green Primary School
  • Lakenham Primary School
  • Valley Primary Academy

The purpose of the Multi-Skills Festival is to allow the pupils to develop their fundamental movement skills and physical competence. The focus is on learning, development and achieving your own personal best. Pupils had the opportunity to participate in a range of different activities targeting different sports and different skills. The activities were;

  • Football Dribbling
  • Underarm Bowling
  • Tri-Golf Putting
  • Racket Skills
  • Multi-Skills Treasure Chest
  • Overarm Throwing
  • Movement Skills
  • Passing & Catching

The pupils were split into small groups, providing them with the opportunity to participate and get to know pupils from other schools. After approximately 8 minutes, the groups would rotate onto a new activity. For each of the activities, a resource card was provided with a learning outcome, the fundamental movement skills involved and a personal challenge for the pupils to target. Each of the activities was led by sports students from Easton and Otley College. Thank you to each of the students for their help.

At the end of each of the sessions, some pupils were awarded with a Sportsmanship Award for displaying good sportsmanship qualities throughout the event. Each pupil was provided with a certificate to take home outlining why they had been nominated by their school staff.
