Today was the best way to start the week with over 2,200 children packing Eaton Park for the Go Run For Fun event. Pupils from all over Norwich came throughout the day to partake in a 2km fun run.
The GO Run For Fun programme has a very simple aim – to get as many kids between the age of 5 and 10 running as possible, through well organised fun events. Whether it is 1 km or 1 mile does not matter. Since GO Run For Fun kicked off in Summer 2013, they have seen well over 200,000 young runners take part in events spanning the UK, France, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland and USA.
Today in Norwich saw the 230,000th runner cross the finish line for the Go Run For Fun events.
The schools that took part today were;
- Bignold Primary School
- Bluebell Primary School
- Colman Infant School
- Colman Junior School
- Cringleford Primary School
- Eaton Hall Specialist Academy
- Free School Norwich
- Henderson Green Primary Academy
- Mulbarton Primary School
- Nelson Infant School
- Valley Primary Academy
- Wensum Junior School
- West Earlham Infant School
- West Earlham Junior School
Each child got the very own famous pink t-shirt worn by the Go Run For Fun team and their own race number too, before they set off with a lap of Eaton Park.
The event was supported by Meghan Beesley, who recently got back from Team England’s trip to the Commonwealth Games in Australia. Meghan is a 400 metre hurdler and got to encourage all the children today by telling them all how she got into athletics.
If your child enjoyed today’s fun run, then why not take them along to the FREE weekly Norwich Junior Park Run which is held in Eaton Park every Sunday at 9.00am.
