New accessible classes to share the joy of dance

Young people and adults with special needs or disabilities can enjoy being active and expressing themselves through dance at a newly expanded programme of accessible classes in Norwich.

The autumn timetable at The Garage on Chapel Field North includes a range of creative courses for those with a learning difficulty or disability.

The venue holds creative contemporary dance classes for children with SEND every Thursday during term time.

The Reception and Year 1 class meets at 2.30pm to 3.30pm, with the class for Year 3 to 6 children at 5pm to 6pm, and Year 12+ at 6pm to 7pm.

Dancers work on a different theme each term, learning technique, improvisation and choreography. At the age of 16 there’s the chance to join the D4Dance Performance Company which meets 7pm to 8.30pm every Thursday.

There’s a dance class for wheelchair users aged over 16 every Friday from 5pm to 6pm, with tutors focusing on techniques, creativity, movement and choreography.

Taster sessions are available for just £10 (subject to availability) – to book or find out more, call 01603 283382 or visit www.thegarage.org.uk/take-part
