How does being a Sports Leader make you feel?

0

This is the question that was posed by the PE Co-ordinator to the Y6 leaders that were trained by us in Y5 at Bignold Primary School.

These were some of their responses – proud, excited, confident, and important.  I like being a role model.

The group of Y6 Leaders have been given responsibility to organise the roll out of the lunch time activities for the younger children at the school.  The PE Co-ordinator has reported back that taking this ownership has inspired the group and ensured their continued commitment.

It’s going well so far, the Y6 leaders have had a uniform cap to make them easy to recognise and a badge.  They’ve been putting all the new theory and practical skills they learnt during their half day training with Suzy into practice.

With all this confidence they’ll be ready to mentor the next group of leaders we train up from Y5 in May before they leave to head to High School to continue their sports leadership journey and hopefully, they’ll be able to gain some qualifications within sports leadership.
