This week we have held two girls football festivals at the Sportspark to give more girls the opportunity to enjoy some football fun.
The festivals were delivered as part of our role as a Girl’s Football Schools Partnership.
The festivals aimed to engage new girls in football and give them the opportunity to represent their school at a school sport event alongside girls from other local primary and high schools.
Yr 5-6 Girls football Festival – Monday 21st June
On Monday we held a festival for pupils in Year 5-6, the following schools took part;
- Bluebell Primary School
- Little Melton Primary School
- St Michaels Junior School
Pupils took part in a variety of activities taken from the FA Pokemon Futsal Challenge Cards which challenged the girls to display the School games values and identified individual and team progress as success. School bubbles rotated around 6 different activities during the festival.
Yr 7-8 Girls Football Festival – Wednesday 23rd June
On Wednesday we held a similar festival, but this time for girls in Years 7-8 in local High Schools. The following schools attended.
- City Academy Norwich
- Jane Austen College
- Notre Dame High School
The groups from each school took part in a selection of activities from the Game Of Our Own programme.
Football Activators
The activities at both festivals were delivered by Football Activators from City Academy Norwich and Jane Austen College who had taken part in the Game Of Our Own training programmes.
Jon Osborne commented;
“It was great to be able to run face to face events this week. We are really excited to be able to use events like this to help target pupils to help them recover following the last 18 months. I was so impressed with the ability and attitude of the sports leaders. We look forward to continuing to develop more girls football opportunities in the future.”

If your daughter took part in the festival and enjoyed it then why not take them along to one of the local FA Wildcats Centres. They offer fun non competitive girls football sessions for girls aged 5-11 years old, that are perfect for girls that want to try a football session for the first time. Visit the Norfolk FA website for further information.
