Description

Teams taking part in the competition will be split intop four equal groups with teams playing each other in a round robin format. Teams will then go forward into a cup and plate competition where they will play off for over all positions.

Matches will be played between squads of up to 8 players, with 5 players being on the pitch at any one time (5 a side). The competition will be held outside at on all weather football pitches at the Sportspark.

As well as regular match play, teams will also be given the opportunity to use Spirit of the Games scoring to reward other teams for demonstrating the School Games values (Honesty, Determination, Teamwork, Self Belief, Passion and Respect).

Who is the Event Open to?

The event is open to all schools. Schools are invited to enter up to 2 squads of 8 girls from Years 8 and/or 9 to take part in the competition. The competition aims to encourage more new girls to participate in football and so isn’t suitable for girls already in performance pathways (eg Community Sports Foundation Player Development Pathway).

Event Theme

This is a Develop themed event which is for pupils who enjoy friendly competition but doesn’t focus solely on winning and losing, instead focuses on supporting pupils wider development.

Intent

The Intent of the event is “to support individual development in sport”.

Clothing & Footwear

The event will be held outdoors on all weather pitches, so pupils will need to wear suitable clothing to keep them warm/dry. Please ensure that pupils wear trainers or football boots with moulded studs (no full studs or blades).

Spectators

Unfortunately we aren’t able to accommodate spectators at this event.

Transport

We are pleased to be able to offer SSP member schools with free transport to this event if needed. In the below booking form please indicate whether you require transport and the total number of seats required (pupils+adults). A transport summary will be circulated prior to the event confirming pick up/drop of times.

Photo & Video Consent

We aim to use photos and videos to promote our events using a variety of media including on the internet, social media, newspapers and newsletters. It is the responsibility of the participating school to ensure that they have asked parents/guardian for permission for photos and videos of all participants to be taken by SSP staff or official event photographers.
