Day of Calm – Academic Year Round-Up

This year we have delivered the Day of Calm to 3250 children!.

Following a tricky few years for all of us for a number of reasons we have found this day of delivery to be very vital.

Helping children to engage with activities that will help to reduce anxiety and enable them to learn techniques to be able to deal with the pressures of modern life is so important.

The Day of Calm is delivered by Suzy Brooks.

It is a full day where every class in the school has a session, which includes techniques to help in calmness, positivity and mindfulness.  Such as Square Breathing, some Tai Chi based movement and actively listening to a chime for as long as you can

This year 12 schools have taken part, they are Bignold Primary School and Nursery, Bluebell Primary School, Chapel Break Infant School, Charles Darwin Primary School, Clover Hill Infant School and Nursery School, Colman Infant School, Cringleford CE VA Primary School, Hethersett VC Primary School, Hethersett Woodside Primary and Nursery School, Little Melton primary School, Tuckswood Academy and Nursery and Wensum Junior School.

Comments from PE Co-ordinators after the day have been 100% positive with one commenting;

‘The training was perfectly aimed for our pupils, focusing on wellbeing and positivity’

Suzy commented that:

‘I love delivering the Day of Calm.  I feel like I’m really making a difference to a whole school community.  My hope is that the children feel calmer, remember at least one thing we did and try to do that every day and also share what we did with whoever is at home.  I always come away from a Day of Calm feeling very calm, as if I’m floating!.’
