The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme which rewards and recognises a schools engagement in the School Games against a national benchmark and to celebrate keeping young people active. On Wednesday 22nd November a squad of 80 pupils represented the SSP at the Norfolk School Games cross country finals at High Lodge in Thetford Forest. It was a beautiful autumnal day and the conditions for cross country were perfect. The Norfolk School Games aims to put physical activity at the heart of schools and provide all young people opportunities and experiences that can make a meaningful difference to their loves. We are delighted that the government has announced today the continued funding of the School Games network for the next two academic years, as part of a wider range of school sport investment. The funding of £22 million will allow the network of 450 School Games Organisers (SGOs) to provide young people across the country with the opportunity to compete in positive sporting experiences. On Friday 4th November we held an SSP Cross Country Competition in Earlham Park in Norwich. Three hundred and eighty five Year 3-6 pupils from 14 SSP member schools took part. The competition followed our ‘DEVELOP’ event theme and aimed to encourage more pupils to represent their school in competitive sport whilst aiming to achieve their personal best. During the summer term we have delivered 4 Sports Leaders courses to pupils in Y5 in SSP schools.  89 leaders have been trained up with 193 younger students from the school being Guinea Pigs for those leaders at the end of the day when the leaders put all that they’ve learnt into action. The training consists of a morning session where pupils look at the theory of leading a session, communication exercises, learning about the STEP principle.  Then moving onto the afternoon, the leaders complete Active Crew Challenge 1, this culminates in the leaders delivering their planned, practiced and perfected…

Suzy has had a lovely time this year delivering the DAY of CALM to children and adults within 4 Norwich School Sport Partnership Schools this academic year. In total she has delivered 5 days at different schools to 721 students and 44 school staff.   During the day she sees all classes from the primary school or a secondary school year group.  They will spend around half an hour with her.
