On Monday 22nd April schools were invited to bring a group of up to 12 pupils from Years 2-4 who are traditionally less physically active or wouldn’t normally engage in other school sport events to come along to the UEA Sportspark to enjoy a fun morning of different activities. The event is targeted at providing traditionally less active pupils the opportunity to receive all of the benefits of representing their school in an off site sports event alongside pupils from other schools without feeling overwhelmed by large groups and peer pressure. On Friday 26th April we had a new event for our high schools – Obstacle Course Challenge!! The day started with the schools arriving to meet outside on the grounds of Eaton Vale Activity Centre to have lunch in the sun and to be able to walk around the centre to take in all the centre had to offer. After a quick health and safety brief from the instructors and helmets on, each school went off to their activity. 13 Festivals, 2041 children later and we have completed all our Multi Skills festivals for the year @eastoncollege Tennis Centre.With the theme ‘ENGAGE’ the intent of the event is aimed to give young pupils a first opportunity to take part in a fun, off site sports festival. On Wednesday the 20th March, 6 teams from 3 high schools battled it out in our friendly all girls football competition. The students from years 8 and 9, some who were very knew to football, took on the challenge and embraced the opportunity. Batting, bowling, fielding, fitness and agility, fun and enjoyment were all aspects our year 1’s and 2’s experienced at our Cricket Skills Festival. Five super cricket professionals ‘Moods, Abbie, Kevin, Aaron and Captain’ from the Norfolk Cricket Board shared their knowledge and expertise with our eager 5 and 6 year olds. Each activity involved learning all things cricket whilst having fun. On Monday 4th of March 7 of our primary schools brought along girls from Yr 3 and 4 to take part in our Girls Football Festival! Throughout the morning the girls took part in 8 different activities’, each activity based on learning different football skills. We kicked off the first Monday after half term with not one but two girls football competitions at the 3G 5 aside football pitches at the UEA sportspark A whopping 216 girls from 10 different schools took part in our two competitions. “The Students were BUZZING on their return to school” On Tuesday 30th January 9 schools took part in our first Panathlon Swimming Festival event at the UEA swimming pool.
