Young pupils get the opportunity to represent their school at local gymnastics club

Today over 100 Year 1-2 pupils had the opportunity to take part in a range of exciting gymnastics activities whilst attending our SSP Gymnastics Festival.

The festival was part of the county wide Norfolk School Games which aims to increase the number of children who have the opportunity to represent their school in school sport. The festival was hosted at the amazing Easton Gymnastics Club on the outskirts of Norwich.

Schools had been invited to enter mixed teams of 6 pupils (min 1 boy/1 girl). Each team was paired up with a team from a different school to aid the development of the children social skills and relationships between children from different schools.

Pupils were given the opportunity to take part in 5 different gymnastics activities which all made use of the clubs fantastic equipment. The activities included:

  • Beams
  • Floor routine
  • Bars
  • Tumble track & foam pit
  • Forward/backward roll wedges

All of the activities were delivered by club coaches from Easton Gymnastics Club and sports students from Easton & Otley College.

Jon Osborne from Norwich SSP commented:

“It was brilliant to see so many children enjoying having the opportunity to visit such a great local sports facility. We are really grateful to Easton Gymnastics Club for working with us to put on today’s festivals.”

“Thanks to the brilliant students from Easton & Otley College for supporting the event. Without them and the club coaches we wouldn’t have been able to put on today’s festivals.”
