Wednesday afternoon saw the conclusion of the SSP Yr 5-6 Football Development Leagues. This included both the mixed league and the girls league which was introduced this year. The purpose of the leagues is to offer the opportunity for pupils to represent their school in competitive fixtures, develop their skills and encourage participation in football in the local community.
The fixtures were held over three match days at the UEA Sportspark with all leagues following a round robin format. Teams in the mixed league were split into three divisions to allow pupils to participate in fixtures against teams of a similar ability and ensure a positive atmosphere.
The final match day saw some very competitive fixtures and close results with several teams having the opportunity to leave with a trophy. In the girls division, the top two teams in the standings coming into the day played in a fantastic game which proved vital to the final standings and made the teams inseparable.
Congratulations to Bluebell Primary School and Bignold Primary School who were joint winners of the Girls Football League. Congratulations to Hethersett Primary for winning Division One and Division Two in the Mixed Football League and to Little Melton Primary for winning Division Three.
