During the first two weeks of July, Norwich School Sport Partnership held three multi skills festivals for Yr 1 pupils. The festivals engaged over 600 pupils from 7 different schools.
Pupils were given the opportunity to represent their school in a fun, inter school festival held at Easton College Tennis Centre. The pupils took part in a carousel of activities that were aimed at developing their agility, balance and co-ordination, and also improve their running, jumping and turning. The activities required pupils to demonstrate hand-eye co-ordination, throwing and catching, rhythm, power and endurance.
These festivals followed on from the three festivals targeted at Yr 2 pupils held in February which engaged 550 pupils from 8 schools.
Many of the activities at the festivals were lead by young leaders from partnership schools including; City of Norwich School and Avenue Junior School
Competition Manager, Alex Bond said;
"We are really pleased with the response we have had from schools bringing pupils to the multi skills festival this year. We are already planning to run the festivals again next year. It was great to have the young leaders help to run the event"
Pupils at the Yr 1 festival held on Thursday 15th July were also privelged to be able to meet Clieo Stephenson, a national 100m sprinter, who attends City of Norwich School (CNS). Clieo was able to talk to students about her training and her plans to take part in the 2016 Olympic Games.
