On Friday 25th June the spirit of the South Africa 2010 World Cup hit Norwich when the Norwich School Sport Partnership teamed up with FITC to hold a Yr 3/4 football festival.
The festival was themed around the South Africa 2010 Football World Cup.
5 schools attended the event (West Earlham Junior, Wensum Junior, Notre Dame Prep, Bluebell Primary and Colman Junior).
Schools were invited to bring squads of 8 Year 3/4 students including both boys and girls. Each school was allocated a country to represent on the day and were given coloured t-shirts specific to their country to wear.All pupils took part in a mass warm up followed by a football coaching session from FITC coaches.
The teams then took part in a 6 a side tournament. No results were recorded (in line with FA regulations for U8 non-competitive football) with the focus of the day being on participation rather than competition with referees actively coaching players during the games.
Jon Osborne, Partnership Development Manager said;
"It was great to see the power of the World Cup engaging the pupils in this fun football festival."
