Yesterday saw schools from across Norwich come together at City Academy Norwich to battle it out to be crowned Norwich SSP 2012 basketball champions.
The competition was held in the brand new sportshall at City Academy Norwich which is part of their new £21m school building.
6 teams took part in the competition from the following schools; Avenue Junior School, Bluebell Primary School, Cavell Primary School and West Earlham Junior.
Teams competed in a round robing format which each team playing 5 x 10min matches. Matches were officiated by coaches from Basketball in the Community
The final overall results were;
1st - West Earlham Junior (15 pts)
2nd - Cavell Primary A (12 pts)
3rd - Avenue Junior (10 pts)
4th - Cavell Primary B (9 pts)
5th - Bluebell Primary A (8 pts)
6th - Bluebell Primary B (6 pts)

"It was great to see so many pupils taking part in a basketball competition, many for the first time. We are really lucky to have teamed up with Basketball in the Community to also ensure that pupils can also now continue to play basketball outside of school"
Basketball in the Community are now running weekly basketball coaching sessions for pupils in Yrs 3-7 (5-6pm) and Yrs 8-11 (6-7pm) in the new City Academy Norwich Community Sports Centre on a Wednesday evening. Last night saw Eaton Primary take on Cringleford primary School in teh finals of the SSP Yr 5/6 Girls Kwik Cricket competition. The competition was held at City of Norwich School (CNS) and run by the CNS School Sport Coordinator (SSCo) Mr Collard.
