Cringleford Crowned Mini Tennis Champions!

Yesterday, more than 60 Yr 3/4 pupils took part in the Norwich School Sport partnership mini tennis competition. The competition had been planned to be held the previous week on the new floodlit outdoor courts at Eaton Park but due to bad weather had to be postponed. To ensure that the bad weather didnt effect the competition again the indoor courts at Easton College Tennis Centre were booked.

Schools were invited to enter teams of four pupils from Year 3 and 4 (2 boys/2 girls). Teams were randomly split into two pools with pupils from each team playing each other in a round robin format.

Matches followed a timed tennis format where pupils played for 7 minutes and the person who was ahead at the end of the time period winning. After all of the matches were played and the scores were added up the following results were calculated.

Pool 1

1st - Cringleford Primary

2nd - Norwich High School B

3rd - Bluebell Primary B

4th - Cavell Primary E

5th - Cavell Primary C

6th - Cavell Primary D

Pool 2

1st - Norwich High School A

2nd - Avenue Junior A

= 3rd - Bluebell Primary A

= 3rd - Bluebell Primary C

5th - Avenue Junior C

6th - Cavell Primary B

7th - Cavell Primary A

A final was played between the winners of each pool (Cringleford Primary Vs Norwich High School A) and it was the pupils from cringleford primary who came out on top and were victorious.

All pupils that took part in the competition were given a certificate of participation as well as information about local community tennis coaching opportunities being provided by EA Tennis at Eaton Park.

The pupils from Cringleford Primary will also be invited to represent the Norwich SSP at the Norfolk School Games finals being held on 18th/19th June at the UEA Sportspark.
