Tag Rugby Workshop for Staff a Success!
On Wednesday 11th January the SSP held the forth of its practical CPD workshops for school staff. This time Tag Rugby was the topic and the tutor was Penny Chapman the Norfolk Development Officer for the Rugby Football Union (RFU).
The aim of the workshop was to introduce tag rugby format to school staff and to develop their confidence and skills in delivering it.
The course covered the following areas;
- What is Tag Rugby?
- What are the basic rules?
- What size pitch/surface should it be played on?
- Why is it better for Primary School pupils?
- What equipment is used?
- Where can you buy the equipment from?
- Tag rugby specific warm ups
- Main sessions
- Cool downs
Staff were encourage to go back to their schools and introduce/develop the provision of Tag Rugby. Schools were reminded about the upcoming SSP Yr 5/6 Tag Rugby competition being held on Friday 3rd February at Lakenham Hewett RFC which is part of the NEW School Games.
